Shows and Exhibitions

A piece of shell ginger leaf, through foraging, preparing, and weaving, transforms from a natural material into a practical everyday item. This hands-on workshop invites Teacher Ya-Li Pan to guide you in discovering shell ginger and the weaving culture of the Paiwan people. Starting from the characteristics and cultural significance of shell ginger materials, you will learn basic weaving techniques to craft your very own shell ginger coaster by hand. No weaving experience is needed! Just bring a bit of curiosity and follow the Teacher step by step to experience the joy of seeing natural materials slowly take shape in your hands.

About the Lecturer Founder of Taobuli Cultural Creation Space Ya-Li Pan is a Paiwan indigenous artisan who has long been dedicated to the creation, teaching, and cultural promotion of shell ginger weaving crafts. Drawing from tribal life experiences, Teacher Ya-Li Pan views shell ginger as an important medium connecting the land, daily life, and ethnic culture. She is committed to bringing traditional shell ginger weaving beyond conventional utensils and into modern life in new forms. She insists on preserving the natural colors of the plant, presenting the unique texture and beauty of its fibers through various weaving methods and creations.
